Awesome Devotionals, paired with Scripture

Our Daily Bread Devotional Bible is a hardcover NLT version of the Bible with daily devotionals built in. This Bible Is unique in that each book of the Bible is broken up into smaller sections and those sections are prefaced by a page long devotional that helps integrate the chapters of that book that follow.
What I really liked about this Bible is that it essentially merges two books into one. The devotionals are easy to understand and relate to. They were placed perfectly and the smaller sections each devotional accompanies is not too long. Length-wise, it is easy to make time to read one each day.
The only thing I didn't like was that the devotionals are dated, so January 1 is the first few chapters of Genesis and so on. I would have rather the just dated the devotionals "day 1" and so on so that no matter when you start this Bible, you can start at the beginning.

Good for new Christians

The Our Daily Bread Devotional Bible is a New Living Translation version of the Bible. I recently received a copy of this to review and while it's my first time reading the NLT version, I've been pretty pleased with the overall ease of reading this Bible.
The biggest problem a lot of people have when it comes to reading a Bible is that they have no idea where to start. This Bible has you start right at the beginning and takes you on a year-long Bible reading adventure. Each day's scripture passage is clearly marked with a date, so if you're one of those people who always resolve to "read the Bible in a year" but never does, this one makes it easy. Most of the Bible reading programs that are designed to help you read through the Bible in a year have a lot of skipping around, which tends to make it challenging for people to stick with. This Bible doesn't do that. You simply start in Genesis in January, and by the end of the year you'll be in Revelation.
Another point of interest in this Bible is that there are short, encouraging devotionals sprinkled throughout the Bible. I'm personally not a fan of devotionals within a Bible. I kind of feel like God's Word is enough and there's not really a need to hear another author's opinion every few pages, but I know a lot of people really enjoy devotionals. For those of you who aren't familiar with this term, a "devotional" is basically a short (usually 3-paragraph) story that is designed to help the reader feel closer to God or learn an important lesson about Christianity.
If you're new to Christianity or you want to read through the Bible in a year, I'd recommend this Bible as a fantastic way to get acquainted with the Bible. If you've been a Christian for years and years, this might not be the one for you.

OUR DAILY BREAD DEVOTIONAL BIBLE

What a blessing it is that I get to share with you a devotional Bible brought to you from the same folks who bring you OUR DAILY BREAD. The solid reputation of OUR DAILY BREAD won't disappoint you here. As far as the layout of the Bible itself, you will not be distracted from the Biblical text. The NLT is not chopped up with tidbits of study information nor does the devotional notes divert your attention from the Scriptures. Any notes provided by the team at OUR DAILY BREAD are solely set apart from the Biblical text -- typically on its own page entirely. The NLT is found just as you would find it in any text of the NLT, with all of the translation notes footnoted at the bottom of the pages.
What is unique about this Bible, and may make it very attractive for anyone seeking a daily devotional, is that there are 365 devotional readings. Each reading is distinguished by a date so that you can pick up and read as you are able. The authors have created the bible so that you can start on January 1st and finished on the last day of the year, every day having devotional material. That said, you are not asked to read the Bible in its entirety in order to complete the devotional journey (but I'd highly recommend it :) haha).
In focusing on the book of Hebrews alone, there are six devotional sections (so you'd be through the book of Hebrews in less than a week if you were reading through the entire plan). The book of Hebrews opens with an introductory page just as every book of the Bible has (AUTHOR, DATE WRITTEN, PURPOSE, THEMES, BOOK OUTLINE). Each of the six devotional entries include the instructed passage to be read for the day (between two and ten verses), thoughts on the passage, and a prayer. The devotionals are relevant and easy to read and apply. What is more, they do not stretch or irresponsibly handle the Scriptures. They aptly focus on the theological forest, not the detailed, exegetical trees so to encourage those who are journeying with them! I love that about this devotional.
This devotional is for anyone who is looking for a consistant means to be in the word. It will stretch you book in your application and in your theological understanding of the Word of God.
