An excellent combination Bible for learning and devotions.

The "One Year Chronological Bible" is a wonderful way to gain a comprehensive overview of the what, where and when of the Bible through a planned guide of yearly readings. The Bible is finally put into its historical order (as understood by conservative, evangelical scholars), allowing readers to fit the kings, kingdoms, people, and work of God into an understandable format for any reader. The daily reading plan allows one to go through the entire Bible in a year by following an easily a managable format. This is a great resource for students, teachers, or anyone wanting to have a better understanding of the Bible - both Old and New Testaments - and its times.

Reading thru the Bible in a year is now easy and enjoyable

I have always struggled to read through the Bible in a year. I would start out in January ok, but by March, it was pretty much done for the year. I would then start the next year all over again, always with the same results. That was before I got a Bible that actually told me what to read every day to be on schedule. And then I found out that in addition to that, there is this chronological Bible with the events more or less in the order they happened! I'm hooked now on daily Bible reading and think that if it was easy for others to do, they'd be hooked on it too!
I am now convinced more than anything else that a vigorous spiritual life absolutely requires regular reading and pondering God's Holy Word. I've always struggled with this up to now. Thanks to the daily Chronological Bible, I now look forward each afternoon when I get home from work to see what God will teach me through His word. And because it is in chronological order, the reading is more like a connected story rather than just 66 independent books strung together. Plus, you never really know what you will be reading next, depending on the sequence of events that took place all those years ago. It is a fresh look at a very familiar book, and a new adventure! And the NIV translation is accurate, relevant, and modern, which makes the reading more interesting and meaningful.
I now commit to taking the 15 minutes each day to read through that day's Word with sincerity and diligence. I'm all but convinced that my life is changing due to this commitment, and for the better! God now takes on new meaning in my life, and I have new, fresh relevance as I struggle to live every day. I feel that His Holy Spirit will speak often to me in the Word, and at least 15 minutes each day will be spent reading God's love letter to me so that I can put my priorities in the right sequence.
In the past month or so that I have discovered this, I have had new excitement about a 2000+ year old book, and now look forward to seeing what God will tell me in each day's 15 minutes alone with His Holy Word. All I need is my calendar and my Chronological Daily Bible.
For Christians out there, I'm sure that if you include daily Bible reading and prayer as an ingredient in your daily life, that you will have many rewards for that! I suggest this almost sinfully easy way for you to do daily Bible reading with the assurance that it will bless you in ways you never thought possible! It certainly has for me!

The only way to read the Bible on a daily basis.

...I will never forget the first time I read the Bible through in chronological order. It was such an eye-opening experience that I have to say it literally changed my life and the way I think and meditate on scripture. What happens to a believer when they do this is hard to express. But suddenly all those seemingly obscure prophetic passages begin to take on new meaning as you realize when this prophet actually lived and what was going on around him when he prophesied. So, I have always told my children to read the Bible through in chronological order. You can study what you want as you go, but read it daily in chronological order. Make that daily deposit in your heart and let His Word grow.
...My first experience with reading chronologically was done with a reading chart. Over the years I have found several different reading charts that proport to put the Bible in chronological order. While all of these charts are absolutely great, and sometimes represent countless hours or even lifetimes of work in putting them together, the problem is that you end up flipping back and forth between passages in a regular Bible. The great thing about this Bible is that the passages are put in order for you in a very comfortable daily reading. This makes it very easy to jut pick up daily and read... no flipping around!
...The only things I don't like about it are:
...(1) I'm not a big fan of the NIV translation, although it is certainly very easy to read. This translation, while giving you a very clear reading, doesn't really tell you what words were added to the translation (like the NKJV or KJV and others do with italics). Also, since NIV is based much on the Sinaticus text, there are several places where there is just too much deletion of scripture that you would find in other translations! Of course, these deletions are included in the footnotes, but this makes you have to pay attention to the footnotes all the time, which kinda breaks up the flow of reading a passage.
...(2) It is paperback. This doesn't make for a long-lasting book; especially one that you might pick up and read every day! That, to me, is kinda dumb. I would hope that the producers of this book would sometime in the future release a leather-bound Bible that will last for generations!
...Over all, I give this a 4 simply because it is a fantastic idea put in a very easy-to-use form (+5) even though it is a paperback NIV (-1). If you've never read the Bible in chronological order... do it! You will not regret it! You will come to see God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word in a more real way.
