My son loved it!

101 Bible Adventures: The Ultimate Quest for Truth!
"101 Bible Adventures offers kids a high-energy, adventure-filled approach to reading, interacting with, and learning life lessons from Scripture." Each of the 101 stories is told across two pages. They all contain a title, What's Up: a brief overview of the story and some background information, Action Adventure: the Bible story, Key Verse: a verse that sums up the stories meaning/message, Now What?: an application section that challenges or encourages the reader, and a one square illustration/comic.
Anthony and I have both read this book. He kept it in car for days, reading it every time we went anywhere. Anthony loved the comics - they do a great job illustrating the story and are usually funny! I liked a lot of different things about this book! I think the stories are just the right length to keep the young reader's attention and the layout makes it easy to read. I like the background information, so that you can learn more about the situation or life at that time. I appreciate the fact that the Action Adventure section says "from" the specific Scripture, instead of trying to saying the paraphrase/story IS the word for word Scripture. I think this book would make an excellent daily devotion book. It could be used independently by the child or one where the parent/child read together and discuss the lesson. The Now What? Application section is very good! It really challenges the reader and asks good questions for them to think about. The only thing that I didn't like (and maybe I'm old fashioned because I have this issue with a lot of books) is that the pronouns of God/Jesus, like He, Him, and His, are not capitalized. I really see this as a sign of respect for God/Jesus and really wish that more publishers/writers would make the distinction that He is different than others.

fun but deceptive

While it overall sounds great for kids, to me it is propaganda by the author. I'm thrilled to see a child's Bible study book and hope that my son would be interested, but I'm afraid that it is just too opinionated and disrespectful. I am all for humor, but changing the actual events of the Bible is just not right. It's called revisionism, and is dangerous to society.
I do not recommend this book at this time. If a revised edition appeared with less manipulative material, then I would be all for giving it five stars. However, at this time, even though the revisionism is minor, I cannot in good ethics recommend a book with said material.

Great book!

I think this is an excellent book for kids. Especially because they are mostly too young to understand the "adult" version of the Bible. There are great illustrations in the book and it is laid out in such a way that it is appealing to kids. I highly recommend it!
